Sup this is Noah. Slam is an awesome experience to learn about another culture and how they do stuff. We learned how to smudge each other with sage and an eagle feather. Ha, Amber didn’t get one. It was cool. We built a ramp and laid a drive way. I caught two turkeys Tom and 2pac. I also made out with two dogs. But it was a cool way to experience service.
Hello this is Brittany here :D anyways I had so much fun this week at SLAM. I had lots of fun building the ramp and getting to know the people that we built it for. The kids were really nice to us all. They respected us all. The fun part of this week was everything. I learned a lot about the Indians and a lot about my culture in its self. The whole thing with Noah and making out with the dogs was so funny. We all laughed about it for like ever. All in all this week was really fun and I learned a lot in such a little amount of time that I was there. At first when I got here I was a little disappointed because I expected something different than what had happened but in the end it was still fun, and I am still really glad I came on this trip. It was one of my highlights of this summer. I will always remember what happened this past five days :D
Hey, it’s Brandi(:
So leaving for SLAM I was like pretty excited, but I didn’t know what to expect. Seeing our worksite was pretty cool. The little kids were the cutest. I really liked the sense of accomplishment whenever the final project came out. I’d have to say the most fun I’ve had this week has been at Cory’s house. We’ve been there twice now, both times were really cool. The first time we went we participated in an Indian style worship circle. That was cool to see. Then tonight we had this awesome dinner of fresh salmon and fry bread, it was really good. We’ve been learning a lot and having a lot of fun and becoming better friends within our own group and with the other group that’s here with us. I’m really glad I joined this trip, and I’m thankful to have been a part of all of this and I hope we come back next year. (:
Hey hey hey hey its ammmbbbeerrr ^.^
Annyyyywaaayysss this week has gone by in a flash! From worship circles to exotic dances! As our service project we got the chance to build and ramp for a very friendly family. It took a lot of hard work and I learned a lot. Caitlynn and I decided that we are gonna have a farm with barfing chickens and biting horses, and to support our lifestyle needs we are gonna run a nail company with the motto, we hammer it good . I learned how to hammer pretty well and used an electric screw driver. I kind of failed at that but it was still fun. This trip gave me the opportunity I was searching for, to learn about another culture other then my own. It just amazed me on how we are similar but also different. For example we had the chance to participate in an Indian worship circle. We had to use this root called sage and bring the smoke towards us to free and clear our minds. Surprisingly, it did work sort of. Sure it was a little awkward but a good learning experience. Another thing we did was go to a museum about the Yakama Indians. I found it super interesting. My favorite part of this whole trip was being able to meet and get closer to the people around me. I absolutely loved SLAM. And I am sure ill return again and again cause it was the most eye opening experience a person could ever have and yeah. The Salmon dinner was delicious by the way, cait and I had THREEE servings of it, and the bread thingy was good tooooo! Even though I had a blast here im excited to come home and start my own nation, with the people I care about most all connected through god and Jesus. So night guys and see you soon♥
Hey, its Caitlynnnnnnnnnnnn(;
Well, SLAM was such a great experience, at first I was super nervous about going but from the time I got here I’ve been having fun!! (: I learned sooo much the time I have been here, its was so much fun building the ramp, and seeing how they do things differently than us the people we built the ramp for people who owned some chickens and horses and turkeys and a couple rabbits when we first got to the site we were greeted by the oldest of there three kids who was only 6 years old he showed us around let us hold the chicks and pet the rabbits and just a whole bunch of things before there was stuff we actually had to do. I was amazed at the things that were there . Building the ramp was such a great experience, me and Amber had to hammer some nails in and it wasn’t so easy and we messed up a few times but we worked through it, the people and there kids were super nice to us and very appreciative. I was happy to know that we had helped someone out . I had tons of fun the whole time we were here the, drum circles hanging out, meeting new people, and just everything was such a great experience for me. I could stay here forever but I am starting to miss home so I am happy to be leaving tomorrow. Good Night and see you guys when we get back (:
